A second-generation modernist artist, sculptor, and researcher, Adnan Khouja contributed to founding the Group of Ten in Tripoli in 1973. In his experiments, Khouja adopted abstract Letterism and Eastern formation patterns.
Born in 1948 in Tripoli, Khouja studied arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University from 1969 until 1973. He pursued his studies in Paris and earned a PhD in Visual Arts from the Paris 8 University.
Adnan Khouja is an instructor at the Faculty of Fine Arts and at the High Doctorial Studies Department at the Lebanese University as well as at Beirut Arab University.
Khouja contributed to organizing the International Symposium for Sculpture in Tripoli. He was elected president of the Lebanese Artists Association for Painting and Sculpture and remained in that position from 1996 until 1998.
Khouja organized many solo exhibitions in Lebanon and abroad and participated in local and international group ones. Moreover, he was awarded many medals and honorary prizes.
